Warwick Deeping ha scritto circa 60 romanzi di intrattenimento , alcuni dei quali sono stati girati anche durante l'era del cinema muto . Era anche noto nei paesi di lingua tedesca negli anni '30 come scrittore di romanzi storici. La sua opera più popolare all'epoca era "Il capitano Sorrell e suo figlio" (1925, tedesco 1927). In esso ha descritto come la quasi militaresca cameratismo tra padre e figlio hanno mantenuto la loro relazione durante il periodo di depressione dopo la prima guerra mondiale e la disoccupazione del padre.
Era sposato con Phyllis Maude Merrill e ha vissuto a Weybridge, Surrey fino alla sua morte nel 1950.
