Joe Louis Walker
Joe Louis Walker (nato il 25 dicembre 1949 a San Francisco , California ) è un chitarrista blues americano .
biografia
Attraverso i suoi genitori, Walker è entrato in contatto con il blues da bambino. A 14 anni inizia a suonare la chitarra. All'età di 16 anni ha deciso di guadagnarsi da vivere con la musica.
Mike Bloomfield ha introdotto Walker nella scena blues della Bay Area . Negli anni '60 ha suonato con star come Steve Miller , Jimi Hendrix , Grateful Dead , Lightnin 'Hopkins , Magic Sam , Earl Hooker , Freddie King , John Lee Hooker , Muddy Waters , Fred McDowell e Lowell Fulson .
Esaurito, Walker si ritirò dal blues per dieci anni nel 1975 e cantò con il quartetto gospel The Spiritual Corinthians , con il quale registrò l'album God Will Provide nel 1980 .
Nel 1985 è tornato al blues, ma da allora l'influenza della musica gospel si è sempre fatta sentire. Ha fondato i "Bosstalkers" a San Francisco. Il suo primo album, Cold Is the Night , che vinse il Prix Big Bill Broonzy , fu pubblicato nel 1986 e molti ne seguirono.
Walker ha vinto numerosi premi, tra cui diversi Handy Awards .
